Carlos A. Bohorquez is chief financial officer of UC San Diego Health, where he leads financial operations across three hospitals, 30 ambulatory locations and a growing network of affiliates.
He is responsible for enterprise-wide financial strategy, operating and capital budgeting, supply chain management, revenue cycle optimization and financial reporting and controls, and he plays a central role in structuring strategic partnerships, guiding major capital initiatives and optimizing funds flow across the organization. Mr. Bohorquez brings more than 25 years of experience in healthcare finance, strategy and managed care.
Before joining UC San Diego Health, he served as chief financial officer of El Camino Health, a multicampus health system in the San Francisco Bay Area, and earlier held senior leadership roles at Palomar Health, Tenet Healthcare, GE Healthcare, Kaufman Hall and Ernst & Young, where he advised academic medical centers and health systems on financial strategy, managed care contracting and capital planning.
He holds a master of health administration degree with a concentration in finance from the University of Southern California and a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has also completed executive education programs at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School. Mr. Bohorquez serves as finance committee chair on the board of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, supporting efforts to increase Hispanic representation in STEM fields.
