Brian Cunningham is vice chair and director of inpatient orthopaedics at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and director of ambulatory surgery for TRIA Orthopedic Center.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, where he was appointed chair of the practice management committee in 2022 and was later elected the association’s CFO. Dr. Cunningham also sits on the health care systems committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and previously served on the AAOS patient-reported outcomes work group.
In 2016 he founded The Value Initiative, a research collaborative with a mission to quantify and implement value-based health care through research, innovation, policy and technology. He has built that research area to more than 100 peer-reviewed publications along with numerous book chapters.
Dr. Cunningham is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center and a fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology at the University of California, San Francisco.
