Brian Cole is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and managing partner of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, and a professor of orthopaedics, anatomy and cell biology at Rush University Medical Center.
He is associate chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rush and section head of the Cartilage Research and Restoration Center, and he serves as chair of surgery at Rush Oak Park Hospital. He also leads the Rush Orthopedic Master’s Program.
Dr. Cole’s clinical expertise spans the treatment of sports-related injuries and the use of orthobiologics for the shoulder, elbow and knee.
He serves as team physician for the Chicago Bulls, co-team physician for the Chicago White Sox, and team physician for the Chicago Red Stars, the Chicago Dogs and DePaul University. In 2009 he was named NBA Team Physician of the Year.
Dr. Cole was the 2020 president of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and holds leadership positions in several other national and international orthopedic societies. He earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and has drawn on that training in building ambulatory surgery centers, medical office buildings and physician-led physical therapy centers.
He is the founder and director of the annual Chicago Sports Summit and hosts the Sports Medicine Weekly podcast.
