Amy Trainor, RN, is system vice president and chief information officer at Ochsner Health, the largest nonprofit academic health system in Louisiana, where she oversees clinical systems, corporate systems and technology infrastructure across a network of more than 40 hospital facilities.
She was named CIO in 2024 after serving as Ochsner’s chief applications officer and vice president of clinical systems, where she led the electronic health record, patient-experience and ancillary application portfolios. She joined Ochsner in 2011 and brings a clinical foundation to her technology leadership, having begun her career as a registered nurse and later working for an EHR vendor implementing systems at community hospitals and clinics.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from LSU-Shreveport. Under her leadership, Ochsner’s information systems team achieved enterprise HIMSS Stage 7 validation for ambulatory care, implemented AI-assisted in-basket messaging, and advanced nursing documentation and virtual nursing programs.
Her perspective as a nurse-turned-CIO informs a focus on technology that supports clinicians and patients. She is recognized for advancing digital maturity across a large, integrated health system.
