Illinois ACO chooses Cerner to manage Medicare claims

Princeton-based Illinois Rural Community Care Organization, a statewide ACO comprised of 24 critical access and small rural hospitals, will implement Cerner HealtheIntent to coordinare care for the state's nearly 20,000 Medicare patients.

Clinicians at IRCCO will be able to use Cerner's EHR to analyze medical data across platforms to inform better care and engage patients outside of the ACO.

"In order to move the needle forward in how we provide care for the Medicare patients of Illinois, we need to work with a health IT company that can take all our clinical and financial data and make it valuable," said Pat Schou, executive director of the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network. "We think Cerner's population health solutions will help the doctors and nurses at our member hospitals across the state feel confident in their decision making. Comprehensive and comparative reports, which include information on the care individual patients receive and the overall health of our patients, support the ACO in targeting its strategies to improve the delivery and cost of care by providers."
