Amazon One Medical has introduced a pay-per-visit telehealth service for children ages 2 to 11, offering parents and guardians virtual consultations for common pediatric conditions without requiring insurance or a membership.

Here are four things to know about the new offering:

  1. The service covers treatment for several conditions, including pink eye, head lice, eczema, contact dermatitis, fungal rashes, bug bites, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, fifth disease, roseola, poison ivy and diaper rash. It also allows for EpiPen and asthma medication renewals.

  2. Message-based visits start at $29, while video consultations cost $49, according to an Oct. 16 news release.

  3. A parent or guardian and the child must be present during the consultation, which connects families with board-certified family medicine physicians or licensed family nurse practitioners. Each visit includes a personalized treatment plan and, when necessary, prescriptions that can be filled through Amazon Pharmacy or another pharmacy of the customer’s choice.

  4. The service is geared toward families without insurance or those who prefer not to use insurance for occasional care needs. Visits can be paid for using a credit card, Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account, according to the release.
