In 2015, the governor launched the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine, the first such initiative in the nation to improve care for specific diseases. The initiative supported several demonstration projects since its launch. California has invested $13 million in allocated state funding for precision medicine.
The advisory committee aims to further the state’s use of advanced computing and technology in healthcare. It will advise the governor’s office on emerging precision medicine policy issues and offer recommendations on ways the public and private sectors can contribute to the development of precision medicine.
