VA physician pay raise not for all

Some physicians employed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are disgruntled by a pay raise implemented last November for incoming physicians and dentists, according to ABC News in Baltimore.

The raise increased the maximum annual pay by $20- to $35,000, according to the report.

However, not all VA physicians, especially current ones, will necessarily see more money. The updated maximum salaries help determine the pay grade of incoming physicians and the updates are meant to attract top talent to the VA, according to the report.

"The existing doctors, many of whom who have been in place for 10, 15, or even 20 years, haven't seen any change. And the level of anger is incredibly high. The morale is very, very low," one physician told ABC News.
