The highest-paying, ‘most popular’ millennial job is in healthcare

Five of the most popular jobs among millennials, the largest generation in the workforce, are in healthcare, an analysis by jobseeker website LiveCareer found.

Physician assistants have the highest median annual wage among these jobs, at $104,860.

To determine the most common jobs among millennials based on the proportion of millennial employees, LiveCareer analyzed the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2017 current population survey and 2016-2026 employment projections.

The report includes millennial percent of total employment and median annual wage for each job. Median annual wages are for all ages and cover non-farm wage and salaried workers.

Here are the five healthcare jobs that made the list, with millennial percent of total employment and median annual wage:

No. 7 — Phlebotomists
Millennial percent of total employment: 50
Median annual wage: $33,670

No. 8 — Emergency medical technicians and paramedics
Millennial percent of total employment: 49.8
Median annual wage: $33,380

No. 10 — Physician assistants
Millennial percent of total employment: 48.3
Median annual wage: $104,860

No. 12 — Medical assistants
Millennial percent of total employment: 48.1
Median annual wage: $32,480

No. 15 — Dental assistants
Millennial percent of total employment: 45.5
Median annual wage: $37,630
