The average recruiting salary for a family practice physician in 2009 was $175,000, compared with $417,000 for a radiologist, according to Merritt Hawkins’ annual Review of Physician Recruiting Incentives.
The American Academy of Family Physicians 2006 Workforce Report predicts a 39,000-physician shortage by 2020 which, combined with an aging population, is cause for concern.
