The changes in national staff salary averages from 2011 to 2013, according to the survey, are:

•    Medical records clerk — increased by 14 percent from $26,000 to $29,700
•    Nurse manager — increased by 10 percent from $57,000 to $62,900
•    Registered nurse — increased by 5 percent from $53,000 to $55,500
•    Medical biller — increased by 3 percent from $35,000 to $36,000
•    Front-desk staff — increased by 1 percent from $30,000 to $30,400
•    Physician assistant — decreased by 8 percent from $90,000 to $82,800
•    Medical assistant — decreased by 2 percent from $32,000 to $31,250
•    Billing manager — remained stable at $45,700
•    Nurse practitioner — remained stable at $85,000
