Health system CEOs garner top compensation in the healthcare sector, and the average total cash compensation a CEO would earn in the 50th percentile is more than $1.1 million, according to Mercer‘s 2012 integrated health networks compensation survey.

Across all-sized health systems, health system presidents and CEOs have average base salaries between $787,300 and more than $1 million. Total compensation figures can top $1.4 million for CEOs in the 75th percentile.

Presidents and CEOs at health systems with more than $1 billion in net revenue recorded even higher pay this year, as total compensation in the 75th percentile for those executives reached $1.46 million.
