New Jefferson Healthcare CEO to Make $225,000 a Year

New Jefferson Healthcare superintendent CEO Mike Glenn will earn a base salary of $225,000 a year, making him the highest paid public administrator in Jefferson County, Wash., according to a Port Townsend Leader report.

The six-digit salary was approved Sept. 2 by Jefferson Healthcare commissioners. Mr. Glenn's predecessor, Vic Dirksen, earned $140,000 after 33 years on the job, denying pay raises offered by the board because he thought he earned enough, according to the report.

Jefferson Healthcare spent more than $80,000 on its nationwide search to find Mr. Glenn. Commissioners defended the high salary, which is actually less than Mr. Glenn's previous salary as senior vice president of Valley Medical Center in Renton, Wash., where he earned $220,000 a year and an additional bonus equal to 32 percent of his annual salary.
