Los Angeles County Raising Hospitals and Clinic Fees by 5% to Reduce Deficit

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has raised rates for medical services at its hospitals and outpatient clinics by 5 percent, according to a report by the Contra Costa Times.

But county officials said the action would have little effect on patients at public facilities such as County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center because most of them are low-income.

The action would reduce a projected $213 million deficit for the fiscal year and establish uniform rates for all county hospitals and clinics, which could improve Medi-Cal reimbursements.
