Healthcare Occupations Top List of Country's Highest-Paying

Nine of the nation's 10 highest-paying positions are in the medical field, with surgeons ranking at the top with a mean annual salary of $225,390, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The BLS has released its Occupational and Employment Wage Estimates for May 2010. Here are the following mean annual salaries for key medical positions:

• Anesthesiologists — $220,100
• Obstetricians/Gyencologists —$210,340
• Internists, General — $189,480
• Family and General Practitioners — $173,860
• Pediatricians — $165,720
• Pharmacists — $109,380
