Employees at California’s El Camino Hospital to Propose Ballot Measure to Cap Executive Pay

A group of Mountain View, Calif.-based El Camino Hospital workers intends to put a measure on the Nov. 2012 ballot to cap the pay of the hospital’s nine highest-paid executives who each make more than $200,000 before counting bonuses, according to a San Jose Mercury News report.

The hospital workers, some of whom belong to the SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West, said the measure is not personal, but the high executive salaries exist as their own contract negotiations have hit a wall, the report said.

Tomi Ryba, the new CEO of El Camino Hospital, is slated to make $695,000 per year and could make as much as 30 percent in benefits, according to the report. The hospital has not responded to the group’s announcement for a ballot initiative.
