Most of these executives oversee multiple hospitals. Russ Danielson, vice president and CEO of the Oregon region of Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services, was the highest paid hospital executive in Oregon in 2009 with total compensation of $1.4 million.
Larry Mullins, president and CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, Ore., and George Brown, MD, president and CEO of Portland, Ore.-based Legacy Health System, both earned $1 million. Former Legacy Health Systems CEO Robert Pallari, who retired in 2006, received $500,000 in deferred compensation in 2009 as part of a non-compete agreement. His annual compensation exceeded $2 million when he headed the system.
