4 Hospital Executive Positions With the Highest Salary Raises

Hospital and health system executives have generally experienced annual salary increases of around 3 percent, but a new Sullivan, Cotter and Associates survey shows higher variations exist among a select few positions.

According to SullivanCotter’s annual hospital manager and executive compensation survey, four executive roles experienced the highest annual salary raises in 2013 (and projected for 2014):

•    Business development executive: 11.6 percent
•    Ambulatory care executive: 8.5 percent
•    Quality management executive: 8.4 percent
•    Medical informatics executive: 6.5 percent

Each of those positions represents an area of intensified focus: the shift from inpatient to outpatient care in a value-based world, patient safety and quality, and health IT.

“While the general trend is to budget the same level for executive increases as for non-executive employees, organizations are making market adjustments as needed to address the changing scope of responsibilities and recruitment and retention concerns,” Kathy Hastings, SullivanCotter’s practice leader of executive compensation,” said in a news release.
