James R. Burkhart. Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital. Mr. Burkhart became president and CEO of Tampa General in March 2013. Previously, he was president and CEO of another nonprofit teaching hospital, Shands Jacksonville (Fla.) Medical Center. Mr. Burkhart, a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, serves on the board of the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida and has also been a member of the Florida Hospital Association’s board of trustees. Mr. Burkhart holds a doctorate of science in health services administration and a master’s in healthcare administration.
