Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare is expanding primary care access in Georgia through a new collaboration with the digital medical practice Galileo.

The effort will allow Emory patients to access on-demand virtual primary care, as well as same-day or next-day appointments in clinic settings.

“This collaboration enables us to offer care to individuals on their phones, computers or in a clinic setting — while ensuring they can seamlessly access Emory specialists when needed,” Joon Lee, MD, CEO of Emory Healthcare, said in a May 8 news release.

Emory is also exploring opportunities to unburden specialty care providers through Galileo’s behavioral health and chronic disease management services.

The collaboration is part of Emory’s broader efforts to provide more diverse, accessible primary care options through the Emory Healthcare Network.

The clinically integrated network comprises more than 4,000 physicians across about 70 specialties, including 550 in primary care.
