Alaska Medicaid to Pilot Medical Homes

The Alaska Medicaid Program is considering several recommendations from a joint administration-legislative task force including a medical home pilot program in order to reduce spending, according to a Forbes report.

The recommendations, which also include increasing the use of generic drugs, are expected save the system up to $20 million annually.

Alaska’s Health and Social Services Commissioner William Streur said the pilot could be implemented as early as this year.
