The American Heart Association will present Megan McLaughlin, MD, an assistant professor of medicine in the division of cardiology at University of California San Francisco, with the Dr. Nanette K. Wenger Research Goes Red Award at the association’s 2025 Scientific Sessions conference in November.

The award is given annually to recognize outstanding research published in one of the association’s 14 scientific journals during the previous year, according to a Sept. 29 news release from the association.

Dr. McLaughlin is being honored for her article, “Disparities in Postpartum Care After a Hypertensive Disorder of Pregnancy in the United States,” published April 2 in Hypertension. She helped lead researchers who analyzed data from more than 47,000 postpartum individuals and identified racial, ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in postpartum cardiovascular counseling and screening.
