Officials have broken ground on a $650 million expansion project at Rochester, N.Y.-based Strong Memorial Hospital, according to a Sept. 8 Rochester First report.

HCA Healthcare Northwest is continuing a $69 million expansion project after opening new operating room space, the Houston Chronicle reported Sept. 8.

Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth has broken ground on a $100 million heart and vascular patient tower in a hospital south of Denver, according to a Sept. 7 Denver Business Journal report.

The University of South Florida has received a $25 million gift from Tampa General Hospital to name the Center for Athletic Excellence and the university's athletics district. It is the largest ever gift to USF Athletics. 

Utica, N.Y.-based Mohawk Valley Health System's new Wynn Hospital is slated to open Oct. 29, at which time it will consolidate its St. Elizabeth and St. Luke's hospital campuses into one building, according to the Observer Dispatch.

A $190 million expansion project at the University of Louisville (Ky.) Hospital is now on track to open in January 2025, according to a Sept. 6 report from Fox affiliate WDRB.

Lee's Summit, Mo.-based Saint Luke's East Hospital is spending $52 million to increase the facility's square footage by about 10 percent, The Kansas City Star reported Sept. 6.

The creation of a new rehabilitation facility operated by the world-renowned Chicago-based Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and a research center in Detroit have been made possible by a $375 million grant from the Gilbert Family Foundation.
