McDonald’s executives are hoping the move to the West Loop will not only help draw new employees, but also help it adapt to changing customer demands.

“We firmly believe that part of the importance of the move downtown is that it gets us closer to our customers, it gets us closer to competition, it gets us closer to the trends that are shaping the future of society,” McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbook told Fortune.

The new headquarters will house 2,000 employees and features open floor plans, huddle rooms, work neighborhoods and an IT tech bar.
