The program will take place in as many as 10 stores and is part of an effort to reduce the company’s real estate footprint by leasing space in stores. Kohl’s has readjusted the square footage of nearly 300 stores over the last few years.

Kohl’s CEO Kevin Mansell said the retailer’s off-mall locations are very attractive from a real estate perspective. He also said smaller stores have “phenomenal improvement in customer engagement, which is improved … by ease of shopping,” according to CNBC.
