CMS launched the challenge in March 2019 to encourage companies to create AI tools that predict unplanned healthcare facility admissions and adverse events within 30 days. The competition had more than 300 initial entries in total, and seven finalists were named in October 2020.
ClosedLoop.ai will receive $1 million in prize money for winning first place, while Geisinger will take home $230,000 for finishing as the runner up, according to the April 30 news release.
