UCLA Medical Center | 100 Hospitals with Great Heart Programs 2017

UCLA Health (Los Angeles). The Heart Transplant Program at UCLA Medical Center launched in 1984 and has grown into one of the largest in the nation, having provided heart transplants to more than 2,000 adults and 300 children over the past three decades. Only 5 percent of adult patients who receive surgery at UCLA Medical Center reject a donor heart, compared to the national average of 25 percent. The health system is also home to the Ahmanson/UCLA Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center, launched in 1980 as the first facility in the U.S. dedicated to adult patients with congenital heart disease. The health system's flagship hospital, UCLA Medical Center, earned a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and was ranked No. 14 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery in U.S. News & World Report's 2017-18 rankings.
