5. In 2011, the hospital performed 8,200 inpatient surgeries, 10,700 outpatient surgeries and 1,900 births, and had 68,900 outpatient visits, 11,800 non-admitted emergency department visits and 7,400 admitted emergency department visits.  

6. In 2011, the hospital recorded $713.9 million in gross charges and $11.7 million in net income, according to the American Hospital Directory.

7. In 2013, the hospital received a Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence from Healthgrades.

8. The hospital was founded in 1921. The original building, updated several times, still stands on the hospital campus and remains in use.   

9. Boone Hospital Center is a Magnet Hospital for nursing excellence.  

10. At its founding, the hospital floors were all tile except for the X-ray room, which had wooden floors to reduce the operator's risk of being electrocuted.
