Apple to open app development school in Italy

Apple has partnered with the University of Napoli Federico II in Naples, Italy, to develop the iOS Developer Academy, a nine-month program designed to prepare students' software development skills. The academy is scheduled to open in October.

Apple has developed the academy's curriculum, with the first semester focusing on software development skills and the second semester focusing on startup creation and app design.

The developer academy seeks to enroll more than 200 students in its first year and 400 students from the second year onwards. Additionally, the university is recruiting teachers for the academy with experience in app development, design and academics.

"Europe is home to some of the most creative developers in the world and we're thrilled to be helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in Italy get the skills they need for success," said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a statement first announcing the academy in January.
