Insurers in the news: June 2-9

The following insurers made headlines this week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Humana seeks to hire 170 in Arizona
Humana is planning to add more than 170 new jobs in Phoenix.

2. Medical Mutual, MetroHealth launch new insurance product
Medical Mutual of Ohio and Cleveland-based The MetroHealth System will roll out a new health plan which both parties say will offer premiums with rates 15 percent lower than market competitors.

3. Metamark affiliates with Anthem BCBS of Georgia
Cambridge, Mass.-based Metamark Genetics announced a new agreement with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia.

4. Ellenville Regional still in network for Empire BCBS members
Ellenville (N.Y.) RegionalHospital confirmed it is an in-network facility for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield policy holders.

5. In Delaware, BCBS and Aetna pitch up to 33% in premium hikes
The Delaware Department of Insurance reported those insured under Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna could face double-digit rate increases in 2017.

6. Aetna raises $13B in bond sale to back Humana purchase
Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna sold $13 billion of new bonds to fund its acquisition of Louisville, Ky.-based Humana.

7. UnitedHealth will only remain on 3 state exchanges in 2017
UnitedHealth is bidding adieu to the Affordable Care Act exchanges in 31 states, meaning it will only operate in three markets next year.

8. CarePoint's Hudson hospitals now out-of-network with Horizon
Hudson Valley hospitals operated by Jersey City, N.J.-based CarePoint Health will now charge out-of-network rates for care provided to Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield members.

9. Bon Secours launches insurance network
Bon Secours Richmond (Va.) Health System launched Bon Secours Value Network, a self-insured plan for small- and medium-sized businesses in central Virginia.

10. Oneida to participate in Basset Healthcare's MSSP, commercial ACOs through population health partnership
Oneida (N.Y.) Healthcare is teaming up with Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Basset Healthcare Network to enhance primary care and population health management in the Oneida region.

11. John Muir Health System, Humana sign value-based care agreement
Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health System and Humana inked a value-based care agreement that will benefit Humana Medicare Advantage members in Contra Costa County, Calif.
