Saint Francis Hospital to Become MidHudson Regional Hospital

Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., will be renamed MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center after its sale to Valhalla, N.Y.-based Westchester is complete.

Michael Israel, president and CEO of Westchester, said in a news release "the new name highlights the role the organization will play in the future, a healthcare partnership to care for the residents of the Hudson Valley region today and far into the future."

In February, a bankruptcy judge approved the sale of 333-bed Saint Francis to Westchester in a deal valued around $40 million. Saint Francis filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December.

Officials for both organizations expect the transaction will close May 9.
