Cape Cod Healthcare in Hyannis, Maine, plans to cut eight lab jobs and reduce the hours of other employees at its C-Lab, which includes 14 outpatient and hospital-based laboratory facilities, according to a Cape Cod Online report.
The changes are part of the system's effort to reorganize its lab capabilities to improve workflow and expand hours of operations.
The eight employees who will be affected by the layoffs are medical secretaries, according to the report. Some patient service technicians will see their hours reduced from full- to part-time.
Cape Cod Healthcare is in negotiations with 1199 SEIU over the proposed workforce reduction, according to the report.
