9 healthcare organizations adding jobs

The following healthcare organizations shared plans to hire workers since March 6, starting with the most recent.

1. Barlow Respiratory Hospital seeks to hire nurses
Barlow Respiratory Hospital, a specialty hospital with three locations in the greater Los Angeles area, will hold a nursing career fair and registered nursing residency information session March 27.

2. Baxter International to add 90 jobs in NC
Baxter International, a hospital and renal product manufacturer, is adding jobs in North Carolina, according to the state's Democratic governor, Roy Cooper. Baxter plans to add 90 jobs at its manufacturing facility in Marion, N.C., and invest more then $7.4 million there.

3. Florida hospitals seek healthcare employees to meet demand
Hospitals in southwest Florida are making efforts to recruit healthcare workers in a number of areas.

4. Indiana hospitals seek underrepresented medical specialties to meet demand
Northwest Indiana hospitals are making efforts to recruit physicians amid a national shortage.

5. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center plans expansion
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center plans to expand its main campus by an additional 625,000 square feet. The project is expected to create up to 600 jobs.

6. PeaceHealth layoffs prompt hiring from other labs
Lab employees who may reportedly lose their jobs at Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth have various other work opportunities nearby.

7. IBM to hire 2k US veterans over 4 years
IBM plans to hire 2,000 veterans over the next four years, as part of its broader commitment to hire 25,000 U.S. workers by 2020.

8. Nationwide Healthcare to purchase Delaware hospital
Brick, N.J.-based Nationwide Healthcare Services plans to purchase Milford (Del.) Memorial Hospital's 22-acre campus and redevelop it. Officials said the redevelopment project would include more than $20 million in capital investments and create more than 300 full-time jobs and hundreds of temporary construction positions.

9. UCare absorbs 150k former Medica members, plans to hire 90 workers
Minneapolis-based UCare said it will hire 90 full-time employees in anticipation of a 150,000 member addition to its state public health insurance business in May.
