Employees Rally Over Work Conditions at Regional Hospital of Scranton

Union employees of Regional Hospital of Scranton (Pa.) are calling on hospital leaders to maintain patient safety standards after being sold to a major hospital operator, according to a WNEP report.

Regional Hospital of Scranton, formerly Mercy Hospital, was purchased earlier this year by Community Health Systems. Union employees are negotiating their first contract with the hospital operator with a looming deadline of Oct. 15.

Among the union employees' goals, the rallying members hope to achieve proper staffing levels and equipment as well as fair wages and no outsourcing for some jobs, according to the report.
