Pardee Hospital in North Carolina Develops New Culture After Logo Change

Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C., is working to change its culture after modifying its logo to reflect its partnership with Chapel Hill-based UNC Health Care System, according to a Blue Ridge Now report.

In June, Pardee Hospital established a ten-year management partnership with UNC. In addition to changing its logo, Pardee Hospital is developing a new culture that emphasizes a patient-centered approach to care.

As part of the move to a new culture, the hospital has established an employee-centered program that includes employee training, patient satisfaction initiatives and recruitment strategies. The Fire Starters — a new group composed of hospital department representatives — created a list of standards for employees. These standards are called ACTIONS for attitude, compassion, teamwork, intercommunication, ownership, neat appearance and sincere customer attention.

In addition, the Fire Starters have established "pillars," including patient satisfaction, quality care, economic growth and the desire to be the provider of choice in Henderson County, to improve the hospital's performance, according to the report.
