New Health System, New Name for Muskogee Hospitals in Oklahoma

Now that Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare's acquisition of Muskogee (Okla.) Community Hosptial and Muskogee Regional Hospital is final, the two hospitals will be known as Eastar Health System, according to a Muskogee Phoenix report.

Capella has operated Muskogee Regional Medical Center since 2007. In July, it announced the finalization of a long-term lease and management agreement of both Muskogee Regional and Muskogee Community Hospital to form one health system by merging the strengths and capacities of both hospitals.

According to the report, the new health system's logo features the color green to reflect the area the new system serves — eastern Oklahoma, also known as "Green Country."

Muskogee Regional Medical Center is now Eastar Health System's west campus and will house emergency services, inpatient surgery, a comprehensive cancer center, rehabilitation and physical therapy. Muskogee Community Hospital becomes the health system's east campus, housing women's imaging services, a sleep center, an outpatient surgery center and occupational health services.
