Mount Sinai Health System, Valley Health System announce collaboration

Mount Sinai Health System, based in New York City, and Ridgewood, N.J.-based Valley Health System have announced plans to work together on clinical programs, research and educational initiatives.

Although both entities will remain independent, they will collaborate on a number of goals, including enhancing patient care, participating in research initiatives, improving quality, continuity and evaluation of care and clinically integrating their physician networks.

Additionally, the organizations will establish links for their clinical information systems, work on recruiting and developing future physicians together and finding opportunities to allow Valley physicians to obtain academic appointments at Mount Sinai's Icahn School of Medicine.

Leaders from both Mount Sinai and Valley Health have expressed optimism regarding the collaboration.

"The best way to better serve our patients is to work with key strategic partners, and we are proud to enter into this relationship with Valley Health System as our network of affiliated medical providers continues to grow," said Arthur Klein, MD, president of the Mount Sinai Health Network.

A Mount Sinai associate dean will be appointed to oversee the joint initiatives' development.
