GOP senators begin drafting healthcare bill: 4 things to know

Senate Republicans started drafting their version of a healthcare bill to repeal and replace the ACA, reports Politico.

Here are four things to know.

1. Senators are working on their own legislation after the House narrowly passed the American Health Care Act May 4.

2. Senate Budget Chairman Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., said he is working with Senate Republican leadership and the Finance and HELP committees to start writing legislation, according to the report.

3. Mr. Enzi told Politico although many decisions must still be made on issues like how to address Medicaid expansion and coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, there have been enough decisions "in some areas" of policy to commence legislation writing.

4. Mr. Enzi did not provide Politico with a timeline for writing the legislation, but he told the publication he hopes to have something available for colleagues to see after the Memorial Day week recess.
