Congresswoman submits bill calling for mental health evaluation of Trump

Representative Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives Friday that calls for President Donald Trump to undergo medical and psychiatric evaluations, according to The Mercury News.

Ms. Lofgren believes Vice President Mike Pence and the rest of the presidential cabinet should use the results of the examinations to decide whether or not Mr. Trump should be removed from office, under the powers granted by the 25th amendment.

The resolution, "urges the Vice President and the Cabinet to quickly secure the services of medical and psychiatric professionals to examine the President to assist in their deliberations under the 25th amendment to determine the whether the President suffers from mental disorder or other injury that impairs his abilities and prevents him from discharging his Constitutional duties."

The amendment has never before been invoked to remove a president from office, but Ms. Lofgren alleges Mr. Trump's erratic speech and behavior patterns warrant evaluation.
