Chicago's Jackson Park Hospital Settles Discrimination Charges

Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago has agreed to pay $80,000 to settle federal allegations of discrimination against female black staff members, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

An investigation led by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission found black female respiratory therapists were required to provide EKGs at the hospital when none of the male Asian-Indian respiratory therapists were asked to do the same.

In addition to the settlement, the hospital has agreed to provide training to employees in its cardiopulmonary department.
