4 tips for becoming a social CEO

As individuals and business have become more interconnected through social media, it is vital for leaders to take advantage of modern tools to increase their industry influence and become social CEOs.

Listed below are the four steps to becoming a social CEO, according to Forbes.

1. Create a strategic social-digital vision and look for opportunities for you and your organization to share expertise and knowledge. What subject will define your brand and help you become an authoritative thought leader?

2. Create a social identity that extends beyond a logo and instead captures a distinct voice for all your organization's social media activity, including your own.

3. Institute a role dedicated to executing this vision and do not rely on different managers, each with their own set of priorities, to accomplish these lofty social goals. Creating a role such as chief social design officer could help create a cohesive voice and brand instead of disjointed efforts across departments.

4. Meet regularly with the person dedicated to these tasks to make sure that you are tackling any roadblocks together. Having this role be separate from the traditional marketing team can help reduce departmental territorialism and make sure people have carefully defined tasks.
