Augusta Health in Fishersville, Va., is moving forward with its plan to build a $42 million cardiology center, according to a News Leader report.
The hospital announced the plan for a new cardiology center in Jan. 2010 but put plans on hold to review the possible effects of healthcare reform legislation.
The center is expected to improve patient access to cardiology and radiology/imaging services and allow the hospital to expand services.
Office visits for cardiology services at Augusta Health has increased significantly over the past 18 months. The hospital plans to hire a second interventional cardiologist and a fourth clinical cardiologist to support this increase.
Hospital officials expect to break ground in six months.
