Louisiana Hospitals Form Cardiology, Neurology Affiliation

Opelousas (La.) General Health System and Lafayette (La.) General Medical Center have established an affiliation agreement for their neurological and cardiology services, according to a Daily World report.

The affiliation was finalized July 1, although it had been in progress for several months, the report said.

The formal agreement between the two hospitals allows patients at OGHS to receive certain cardiac procedures or neurosurgery at LGMC, but OGHS patients will still have the option to be transferred to any place. However, an automated system will be implemented to make transfers to LGMC easy, the report said.
