University of Texas Approves Plans for $438M Hospital

The board of regents at the University of Texas has approved plans to build a replacement $438 million hospital, according to a Houston Chronicle report.

The planned Jennie Sealy Hospital will include a surgical tower, 20 operating room suites, a 54-bed intensive care unit and 250 patient rooms. The current Jennie Sealy Hospital will be torn down. The planned Jennie Sealy Hospital is part of the university's larger $1 billion plan to renovate and rebuild University of Texas Medical Branch after Hurricane Ike three years ago.
