Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, is expected to reach $2 billion in revenue for the next fiscal year starting this July, according to a Columbus Dispatch news report.
According to the news report, next year's projected revenue represents a 45 percent increase since 2006. The health system has expanded its services, but the large revenue increase largely stems from pricing increases for healthcare services. According to the news report, OSU Medical Center increased pricing for services and items by 6.5 percent, much higher than the 2-3 percent pricing increases the last two years.
OSU Medical Center CFO Michael Rutherford said the pricing increases are necessary in light of inflation and Medicaid payment reductions.
