Minneapolis-based Fairview Health will cut 240 jobs due to declining demand for inpatient services, according to a Pioneer Press report.
According to the health system, the cuts include 70 layoffs. Additional positions will be eliminated through attrition or not filling vacant positions.
Last year, Fairview posted a profit of $82.7 million, but the health system lost $3.4 million in the first quarter of 2011, according to the report.
