Connecticut's St. Francis Settles Lawsuit Filed by Abused Patients

St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Conn., has settled a lawsuit jointly filed by 32 former patients of the now deceased George Reardon, MD, who claim the physician had molested them as children, according to an NECN news report.

The new owner of Dr. Reardon's West Harford home discovered photos of undressed children in the walls of the house. An investigation into the photos uncovered Dr. Reardon's supposed growth study was a cover for his alleged pedophilia, according to the news report.

Dozens of former patients filed a lawsuit against St. Francis, accusing the hospital of failing to monitor Dr. Reardon's interaction with his patients. The hospital settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount and issued a statement outlining its belief that Dr. Reardon was a "master manipulator" of patients, parents and his colleagues at the hospital.
