Will Cook named CEO of University of Colorado Hospital: 3 things to know

Will Cook has been named the next president and CEO of Aurora-based University of Colorado Hospital, part of UCHealth.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Cook.

1. Mr. Cook will begin his new role in September.

2. As president and CEO, Mr. Cook will "advance the patient care, innovation and research at UCH," according to UCHealth. Mr. Cook also expects to work closely with the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora to build on their research and increase the funding available for clinical trials and researchers.

3. Mr. Cook has two decades of academic healthcare leadership and experience. He joins UCH from Pittsburgh-based UPMC. Most recently, he was senior vice president of UPMC's Health Services Division, COO of physician services, and president of UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. Mr. Cook also spent five years at Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Health System, serving in leadership roles including leading the operations for the Johns Hopkins International Medical Center in Singapore and as administrator for emergency medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.
