CFO Alan Strauss: From One Ascension Health Ministry to the Next
Carondelet, which is part of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, had $629.8 million in operating revenue in fiscal year 2011, and total assets topped $543.5 million. Before Carondelet, Mr. Strauss served as CFO of another Ascension Health network: Saint Thomas Health, a five-hospital system in Nashville, Tenn.
Mr. Strauss was at Saint Thomas Health for six years, and he helped craft new plans to boost revenue. In one three-year period, Saint Thomas Health went from a net loss of $5 million to a profit of $110 million thanks to joint ventures, cost savings and financial stewardship from Mr. Strauss.
Prior to Saint Thomas Health, Mr. Strauss held various other roles in the healthcare industry. He worked as interim CFO of Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, N.J., CFO of St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif., and member of Tatum Partners, a financial leadership firm based in Los Angeles.
