A survey recently conducted by Emerson Network Power, a technology solutions company, shows hospitals' top information technology concerns are budgets, power requirements and availability, according to the company news release.
The survey also showed more than half of respondents upgraded their healthcare organization's power and cooling infrastructure when implementing new technology, indicating a strong correlation between these infrastructures and hospitals' reliance on their IT systems.
Other key findings from the survey including the following:
• Thirty-two percent of those surveyed experienced unplanned downtime of their IT systems.
• Sixty percent of those surveyed said they plan to add more server and storage capacity in their hospitals.
• Twenty-seven percent of those surveyed plan to expand the existing hospital, while 15 percent plan to build an entirely new facility.
